Cast out the plank from I and I: Skrillex + Damian Marley “Make It Bun Dem.” After launching “Sneak Attack” in January, dubstep wunderkind Sonny John Moore (aka Skrillex) and Tuff Gong heir Damian Marley last night fired up another joint effort. This collaboration is as polarizing as it is electrifying, even causing a core meltdown of this curmudgeon’s staunch prejudices. Self-conditioned to fear that Marley had departed the road to Zion and hopped aboard the highway to Hell, I surprised myself to discover that perhaps this is more of a crossroads than a wrong turn. Robert Nesta’s progeny brings such strong roots as to firmly ground the most inhuman of electro branches - and the fruits seem to bear that out. We’ve listened to The Upsetter’s pro-machine argument. Now, is this the first bit of soul we’ve heard from cyborg Skrill’? Have a listen:
