Audio-Vaudevisuelle Buddha: No, WE’RE the Village Green Preservation Society!
“God save Donald Duck, vaudeville and variety.” -The Kinks
Though leaky clouds may rain on your parade, this afternoon doesn’t have to be a washout. Big Sky Works is offering Brooklyners an antiqued aegis where freak flags can fly high. Williamsburg’s indoor trapeze loft plays host to an extraordinary interpretation of the 1968 album The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society. In two shows — a 4pm kid-friendly matinee and 8pm encore — a panopoly of circus acts are slated to respectively interpret each song from the seminal record, while Long Island’s The March Fourth perform the album in its entirety.
“I always see tunes play out before my eyes” says one of the event’s creators, BAMiAM.tv’s multi-media maven B.A. Miale. “I love the concept and theme of this album and Tanya, my partner has been throwing circus shows for years.” In addition to The March Fourth’s musical accompaniment, today’s carnival will feature performances by Sarah Sara Champagne, Jean Naté, Amy Gordon, Aidan O’Shea, Amazing Amy, Sara Brown, Kristin Olness & Anna Copacabana.
